2015 Oscar Nominations are Announced, Not a Single Black Actor OR Director Makes the List

The nominees for the 87th Annual Academy Awards were announced this
morning…and there’s a glaring lack of diversity among those honored.

Not only are there no Black actors on the ballot, the Academy missed
the opportunity to make history and nominate its first Black female
director, the well-deserved Ava DuVernay, for her work on Selma.

Selma did earn a nomination for best picture and as well as a nomination for best song, for Common and John Legend’s Golden Globe-winning Glory.

Each of the four major acting categories feature all white actors, noticeably snubbing Selma’s David Oyelowo.
