BET Awards 2015: Winners List

Kendrick Lamar opened the 2015 BET Awards with a powerful performance of “Alright.”

British singer Sam Smith continued his hot streak at
music awards shows, picking up the night’s first prize for best new
artist beating out the likes of Fetty Wap and Bobby Shmurda.

Nicki Minaj brought her mom on stage as she picked
up the award for best female hip-hop artist. The Weeknd picked up the
Centric award for “Earned It” from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
Notable performances included Diddy bringing the Bad Boy family back together by performing with Lil KimFaith Evans, 112 and Mase.

Janet Jackson, the recipient of the Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award, also performed.

The ceremony was hosted by Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, who took part in an Empire sketch that was interrupted by Terrence Howard.
