2face Idibia is a year older today

Nigerian music legend and greatest pop act 2face Idibia is forty years old today (September 18).

Most
of 2face’s years on earth has been dedicated to his first love, music.
His career is unarguably the most illustrious of our generation.

In the late 90’s and early 00’s he pumped life into the R&B/Pop scene as a member of the seminal singing group Plantashun Boyz.
After creating history with the group he struck out in the mid 00’s to
pursue a solo career. It was at this time 2face completely changed the
Nigerian music game scene forever.

His first album, the classic Face 2 Face released in 2004 is heralded as the best album of our generation. The flawless album featured the eternally hot song ‘African Queen‘. With this album 2face became the first bonafide superstar of our era.

Two years later 2face dropped another equally impressive album Grass 2 Grace. During this period 2face was untouchable, and the hottest artiste in the country.

With
personal drama hitting the headlines, 2face’s star power started to
wane in 2008. The same year he released his third solo album The Unstoppable. The album was not received with good reviews.

2Baba however bounced
back in true form two years later with the international edition of his
previous album. The humble singer was back in the good books of
Nigerians after the success of this album. The sensational star has had
two albums after this, ‘Away & Beyond‘, and ‘Ascension‘ which have been successful.

2face got married to Annie Idibia on March 23, 2013. The pop artiste has 5 kids.
