Barcelona forward and Argentine superstar, Lionel Messi was named the Best Player of the Year at the 2015 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai yesterday. The 28-year-old football legend scored a total of 58 goals last season despite being placed on the sidelines during most games.

The awards ceremony was headlined by Spanish Club Barcelona as they bagged the award for Best Club of the Year while their President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, was named the Best President of the Year. Chelsea Legend, Frank Lampard, who recently got married, won the Player Career Award alongside Andrea Pirlo who plays for New York City FC.
