Buhari appoints visually impaired man as SSA, set for talks on crude oil in Saudi Arabia

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a visually-impaired citizen,
Dr Samuel Inalegwu Ode Ankeli, as his senior special assistant
responsible for his dealings with people living with disabilities.

Ankeli headed the Directorate of Persons with Disability at the
Buhari/Osinbajo All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign headquarters
prior to the 2015 presidential election.

According to Mr Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant to the
president on media and publicity, Dr Ankeli led a team that mobilized up
to 24 million Nigerians with disabilities to support Buhari and
Professor Yemi Osinbajo as candidates in the 2015 presidential election.

Ankeli hails from Benue state and studied Veterinary Medicine at the
Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna state. He worked with the Benue
state government for a while before leaving to dedicate his time to
activism for people living with disabilities. Ankeli is said to live an
active religious and sporting life.

Meanwhile, President Buhari is in Riyadh city in Saudi Arabia where
he is scheduled to hold talks with the country’s leader, King Salman bn
Abdulaziz Al-Saud, today. Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest crude oil
exporter while Nigeria is Africa’s biggest exporter. Both leaders will
be discussing the dwindling price of crude oil and possible actions.

On Monday, President Buhari held preliminary talks with Prince Faisal
Bandir bn Abdulaziz Al-Saud, younger brother of King Salman and
governor of Riyadh who received Buhari at the the Royal Terminal of
Riyadh International Airport.
