Diego Costa Set for Chelsea Exit as Atletico ‘Agree’ £50million Deal

Diego Costa is set to end his summer hell as Chelsea have reportedly
agreed a £50million fee with Atletico Madrid for his services.
The Brazil-born Spanish international has been on strike in his homeland as he tries to force through a return to La Liga.
Costa was shocked during the summer break when he received a text from manager Conte saying he wouldn’t be needed at the club this season.
And
the 28-year-old has been keen on a return to former club Atleti ever
since despite strong interests from AC Milan and clubs in China.
Both men had a difficult relationship. (Archive)Sun reports
that Atleti will pay £41m up front with another £9m in potential
add-ons as the Blues turn a healthy profit on last season’s top scorer.
Chelsea
had been accused of pricing the Spanish international out of a move as
Stamford Bridge chiefs held out for their asking price, and the
Spaniards have caved to the Blues’ demands despite initially insisting
on their £30million offer.
Atleti will be unable to register Costa
until January following their transfer ban, but they may be able to
secure a six-month loan deal to get keep him fit – which will boost his
chances of leading Spain’s attack at the 2018 World Cup.
Costa has been training in Brazil after refusing to report to Chelsea, hitting out at the club for treating him like a “criminal” and insisting Conte was distant and lacked charisma.
He
bagged 59 goals in 120 games since joining the Blues from Atleti in
2014, leading them to two Premier league titles during that time.
In
his stead, Chelsea have since brought in Alvaro Morata from Real
Madrid, who’ll be leading the line as they face London rivals Tottenham
later today.
