How SA To Anambra Governor and 15 APGA Thugs Beat Me Up – Student President Speaks Out

Miss Helen a President of
National Union Of Anambra State Students (NUASS) Unizik Chapter reveals how
SA To Anambra Governor and about 15 other All Progressives Grand
Alliance (APGA) thugs beat her up when she visited APGA Campaign office, Awka to submit her request for sponsorship for the cultural week of the association to the Director General of Anambra State Governor campaign
organization for the 2017 Anambra governorship election, Chief Victor
Umeh, who was introduced to her by Honorable Patrick.
Helen decried how traumatized she is
because she is yet to know why the APGA thugs beat her up in the presence of
Honorable Patrick, a member of House of Assembly Anambra State at the All
Progressives Grand Alliance 2017 campaign reelection office in Awka. She insisted that it was
Nwachukwu Okpalaoka, SA To Anambra Governor on Youth Mobilization that lead the team of over 15 APGA thugs who beat
me up.
Helen stated that she is non-partisan
that she is not supporting any party, “I am only agitating for good
governance”, she said. When I resumed office as the President of NUASS I
stopped students from paying the association dues.
I was visiting my friends in
government parastatal, submitting proposals, soliciting for support for the
program I have for our cultural week which will start on November.
“Paddy, Hon Patrick is the one
who promised to take me to the DG Anambra Governor Campaign Organization, after
seeing my proposal. I went with him to the campaign office but Victor Umeh was
not around. Paddy handed me to over to Nkiru, the secretary to Victor Umeh. He
left and said I should keep him updated.
I went there by 11:24am am on
October 4, 2017 and waited till around 4:30 when he walked in. As soon as Chief
Victor Umeh walked in, I went to the secretary to plead for me to submit my
proposal to him who walked in alongside the Deputy Governor.
I called Paddy that Victor Umeh
is back at exactly 5:12pm and he ordered me to wait inside. After sometime that
Paddy was not forthcoming, I told him I can’t wait that I have been here since
11 and this is 6:30pm.
It was on my way out of the
campaign house that I saw Nwachukwu Okpalaoka in full APGA regalia in the midst
of over 15 APGA thugs.
When Paddy arrived, I
complained I was hungry and he decided to take to me to Stanel, it was on our
way out of the Campaign house that Nwachukwu Okpalaoka rushed and barricaded
our vehicle with his thugs.
Okpalaoka rushed to the
driver’s side and while telling Paddy to pull over, one of the thugs came to my
side, opened the door and slapped me, rough handled me while trying to snatch
the envelop which contained the proposal I was yet to submit, he also tried
snatching my bag away from me, but when I resisted he left. Nwachukwu Okpalaoka
then ordered Paddy to revise and park inside the campaign office.
Meanwhile, while this incident
was taking place, I was calling my friends who I think would help.
I was also calling my friends
in APGA. When Paddy finally alighted from his car, I came down too, that was
when I challenged him that I will not take this case lightly. I called my
brother, a Willies ally, he called some party members, and they advised him to
keep calm and let the case die down.
The next morning, I called him
and told him I want to know the outcome, I told him I want to file this through
human rights he said I should do anything in my mind.
The APGA members am calling has
been dodging away from the issue. My brother was threatened by Okpalaoka. The
other party members am contacting has been telling me to calm down.
“Am not relaxed again even in
my house”. The SA to the Governor on Images sent me a text
that he warned me but I didn’t listen.
He was warning me
“and said I should be careful in this, I should mind the way I write on social
network that very soon all these will give me a showdown in Awka someday.”

I sent a text to the Governor’s chief Of Protocol Officer, but he never replied the text as
at press statement.

Helen also revealed that the seized documents are still in the possession of the APGA thugs.
Nwachukwu Okpalaoka has since
denied the attack on the female president alleging he was at a function with
some government officials at the time of the incident.
