INEC Sets Date for Mock BVAS Test and PVC Collection Ahead of Anambra 2025 Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to carry out a mock accreditation exercise in Anambra State ahead of the upcoming November 2025 governorship election.
In a statement released on Saturday by Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, the exercise will be held on Saturday, October 25, across selected polling units in the state’s three senatorial districts.
Testing the Upgraded BVAS and IReV Portal
According to INEC, the mock exercise will serve as a technical evaluation of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). The goal is to assess its response time, efficiency, and the accuracy of result uploads to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) Portal.
“This mock accreditation exercise will allow INEC to test the upgraded BVAS, measure its response rate, and evaluate the process of uploading results on the IReV platform ahead of the main governorship election,” the statement explained.
The pilot polling units selected for the test include areas within Awka South, Idemili North, Oyi, Anambra East, Aguata, and Orumba North Local Government Areas.
INEC urged registered voters in these LGAs to take part in the mock accreditation, emphasizing that their participation is vital in fine-tuning both the operational and technological systems for the upcoming election.
PVC Distribution to Begin October 22
In a related development, INEC announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters will begin on Wednesday, October 22, and continue until Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Eligible voters who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise are advised to collect their PVCs at the same registration centers where they initially enrolled.
INEC also reminded citizens that PVC collection is strictly personal — no one will be allowed to collect on behalf of another voter.
“All registered voters are strongly encouraged to collect their PVCs within the scheduled dates to ensure they can vote in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election,” the commission stated.
INEC Reaffirms Commitment to Credible Elections
INEC reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, technological efficiency, and stakeholder confidence as preparations intensify for the 2025 Anambra governorship election.
The commission assured voters that every step taken — including the BVAS mock test and PVC distribution — is aimed at guaranteeing a free, fair, and credible election in Anambra State.
