The 27-year-old French international has fallen out of favour
at Old Trafford and has not featured in Jose Mourinho’s team since
November 19.
Louis van Gaal signed Schneiderlin for United from Southampton for £24m in the summer of 2014.
Everton are also interested in signing Schneiderlin when the transfer window opens next month.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday, manager Mourinho admitted he was uncomfortable having failed to give some members of his squad a fair chance to prove themselves.
“I still have bad feelings towards myself as I didn’t give a real chance to everyone,” the Portuguese coach said.
“There are some positions in our sport where we have over-booking.”
Schneiderlin
featured in the Community Shield at Wembley when United beat Leicester
at the start of the season, but it has been over a month since he played
in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford.
He started his career at Strasbourg in 2007 before moving to the Saints a year later for £1.2m.
