Anambra Governorship Election: AAC Candidate Chioma Ifemeludike With 292 Votes Declares Herself Winner
The African Action Congress (AAC) candidate in the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election, Chioma Ifemeludike, has declared herself a winner despite securing only 292 votes, according to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate and incumbent governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, emerged victorious with 422,664 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, came second with 99,445 votes.
“Integrity Is My Victory” — Ifemeludike
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Ifemeludike described her electoral performance as a moral victory, asserting that her integrity and transparency stood above political manipulation.
“Integrity stands firm and higher than political deception. I’m a winner!” she wrote.
The AAC candidate, who gained national attention during her campaign for her unconventional photos and outspoken interviews, said she was proud of contesting and finishing the race without any record of malpractice or compromise.
Campaign Style and Political Message
Ifemeludike’s campaign attracted widespread attention on social media, especially after her unique campaign photo sparked debates over her choice of outfit. She further solidified her reputation as a fearless voice during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where she emphasized her commitment to reforming Anambra’s security structure.
According to her, if elected, she would have disbanded the controversial Agunechemba security outfit and replaced it with a more accountable and community-driven security system.
“Restructuring security is a priority. My focus is on ensuring that safety measures serve the people and not partisan interests,” she stated.
Supporters Praise Her Courage and Visibility
Despite her modest vote count, Ifemeludike’s campaign has been celebrated by supporters and political observers for giving alternative political voices greater visibility in Anambra’s election. Many have hailed her courage for contesting in a space often dominated by established political parties.
Her campaign, they noted, challenged the traditional political order and encouraged more young women to participate in governance and leadership across Nigeria.
