Former Governor Willie Obiano Breaks Silence After Death Rumors Surfaced Online

Former Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike), has addressed widespread rumors claiming he had passed away, firmly debunking the reports and assuring the public that he remains alive and in excellent health.

In a personal statement issued on Thursday, Obiano said he was surprised to wake up to news of his alleged death circulating online, dismissing it as deliberate misinformation spread by individuals with unclear motives.

“My beloved Ndi Anambra, friends, and well-wishers,
I woke to hear of a rumour making the rounds about my wellbeing.
Let me assure you personally: I am alive, hale, hearty, and in excellent health.
By the special grace of God, I am doing very well.”

The former governor condemned the peddlers of the false report, noting that some people still take pleasure in spreading baseless claims. Despite this, he emphasized that he chooses to rise above such acts of mischief.

Obiano also extended heartfelt gratitude to everyone who reached out with calls, messages, and prayers during the confusion.

“To everyone who reached out… I sincerely appreciate your concern. Your love and goodwill mean more than words can express. Please disregard the rumour entirely. We remain focused, grateful, and guided by God’s grace.”

Signing off his message, he thanked Ndi Anambra and prayed for God’s blessings upon them.
