INEC Reports Over 8 Million Nigerians Complete Online Voter Registration in October 2025

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that more than 8 million Nigerians have successfully completed their online voter registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of October 19, 2025.

Fresh data released by the Commission and obtained by Channels Television shows that a total of 8,003,196 entries were recorded during the ninth week of registration, covering October 13–19, 2025.

Women Lead in Registration Numbers

According to INEC’s breakdown, female voters slightly outnumbered males in the registration process, with 4,190,890 women (52.37%) compared to 3,812,306 men (47.63%).

The data also reveals that young Nigerians aged 18–34 dominate the registration, accounting for 5,533,514 entries (69.14%). Citizens aged 35–49 followed with 1,678,212 (20.97%), while those between 50–69 years recorded 704,866 (8.81%).

Students and Professionals Drive Registration Growth

Students continue to lead occupational participation with 2,018,967 registrants (25.23%), followed by business professionals (1,659,690 or 20.74%). Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) also showed strong involvement, contributing 182,718 registrants (2.29%).

Top States in INEC’s CVR Data

Among the states, Imo State recorded the highest number of online pre-registrations with 826,850 entries (10.32%), followed by Lagos State with 604,619 (7.56%), and Ogun State with 510,062 (6.37%).
On the other hand, Yobe State had the lowest participation with just 2,714 registrations (0.03%).

INEC noted that voter registration in Anambra State remains temporarily suspended under Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, pending the conclusion of the November 8 governorship election.

Over 1.7 Million Nigerians Complete Full Registration

The Commission also confirmed that 1,710,450 Nigerians have completed both online pre-registration and biometric verification at physical centers.
Of this number, 956,566 finalized their registration online, while 753,884 completed it in person.

Youth participation continues to dominate, with 1,261,288 individuals aged 18–34 (73.74%) leading the total completed registrations. Women maintained a higher turnout at 945,305 (55.27%) compared to 765,145 men (44.73%), while 24,207 Persons with Disabilities (1.41%) also completed registration.

Occupational and Regional Highlights

By occupation, students led again with 566,391 completed registrations (33.11%), followed by businesspersons (316,295 or 18.49%) and housewives (259,932 or 15.28%).

In state performance, Osun State topped with 151,593 completed registrations, trailed by the Federal Capital Territory (106,855) and Lagos (85,831). Other notable figures include Kano (96,280), Imo (90,469), and Rivers (28,507).

INEC Data Validation Underway

INEC emphasized that all data remain subject to verification through the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS), designed to detect and remove duplicate or invalid registrations before final publication.
