NYSC Warns Corps Members Against Misuse of Social Media, Says Negative Posts Will Attract Sanctions
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a strong warning to Corps members across the country, cautioning them against using social media in ways that could damage the reputation of the scheme or Nigeria.
NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, delivered the warning on Friday while addressing members of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku, Delta State.
According to a post on the NYSC’s official X account, the DG stressed that Corps members found sharing misleading, defamatory, or harmful content online would face disciplinary action.
He also reminded them to avoid unauthorised travel, comply with all camp regulations, and conduct themselves responsibly throughout their service year.
“Follow simple instructions, be obedient, attend your biometrics, and participate fully in Community Development Service. Learn and respect the cultural values of your host communities, and do not misrepresent the scheme at your place of primary assignment,” Nafiu said.
Delta Camp Records 2,101 Corps Members
Earlier in his briefing, Delta State NYSC Coordinator, John Kwaghe, reported that 2,101 Corps members—944 males and 1,157 females—had been posted to the state for the current batch.
He confirmed that orientation activities were running smoothly, with officials and Corps members displaying commendable discipline and cooperation.
NYSC Reinforces Core Values Nationwide
This warning comes days after Brigadier General Nafiu delivered a similar message in Rivers State, where he urged Corps members to internalise the core values of the NYSC—patriotism, integrity, transparency, efficiency, and commitment.
He emphasized that these values should guide their conduct not only during the service year but also in their future careers and civic responsibilities.
