OPay Wins Fintech Company of the Year, Best Cybersecurity Fintech at 2025 Tech Innovation Awards
Nigeria’s leading financial technology firm, OPay, has secured two major honours—Fintech Company of the Year and Best Fintech in Cybersecurity—at the ninth edition of the Tech Innovation Awards.
In a statement released on Thursday, the company said the awards highlight OPay’s continued leadership in innovation, secure digital payments, and customer protection. The ceremony, held on 29 November 2025 in Lagos, brought together top technology organisations, regulators, and industry leaders shaping Nigeria’s digital economy.
Responding to the recognition, OPay’s Chief Compliance Officer, Chukwudinma Okafor, said the awards validate the company’s dedication to security, innovation, and excellence.
“These awards reflect our relentless pursuit of excellence in fintech and our unwavering commitment to user safety. Every feature we build—from secure payments to enhanced compliance systems—is designed to give millions of Nigerians confidence to transact,” he said.
Chief Commercial Officer Elizabeth Wang also emphasised OPay’s strong security culture.
“We are proud to receive both awards, which reflect our commitment to cybersecurity and user protection. Our OPay Security Vote Campaign is one example—an interactive social media initiative that educated users on in-app security tools. It helped millions understand how to secure their accounts, reinforcing our core belief that safety is the foundation of financial inclusion.”
Founded in 2018, OPay has grown into one of Nigeria’s most trusted digital finance platforms, offering services including transfers, bill payments, card services, airtime and data purchase, and merchant solutions. The company is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and insured by the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), giving customers the same safety guarantees as commercial banks.
