Strive Masiyiwa Launches Africa’s First Multi-Model AI Platform

Zimbabwe’s richest man, Strive Masiyiwa, has officially launched Africa’s first multi-model AI platform through his technology company, Cassava Technologies. The groundbreaking innovation, called the Cassava AI Multi-Model Exchange (CAIMEx), enables mobile network operators to seamlessly access advanced AI systems from global giants like OpenAIGoogle, and Anthropic through a single, locally managed interface.

CAIMEx is designed to make artificial intelligence in Africa more accessible, affordable, and compliant with local data regulations. The platform will power customer engagement, automate support systems, enhance decision-making, and drive the creation of new digital products tailored for African markets.

To ensure data sovereignty and privacy, Cassava Technologies will host all AI services in regional AI factories within Africa. These data centers will operate under local jurisdiction, keeping sensitive user information within national borders.

Masiyiwa, whose estimated net worth stands at $1.3 billion, emphasized that this initiative marks a bold step toward Africa’s digital independence. Cassava Technologies has also partnered with NVIDIA to construct five AI factories across the continent over the next year, reinforcing Africa’s participation in global digital innovation and technology leadership.

This development positions Africa as an emerging hub in the global AI revolution, creating opportunities for digital transformation, job creation, and sustainable growth across industries.
