Six million national ID cards issued – NIMC

The Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission, Mr. Chris Onyeminam, said on Wednesday that over six million Nigerians had been issued with the National Identity Card.
He spoke at the National Assembly as the commission issued the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, his own card in Abuja.
Other principal officers of the House, including the Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, also received their cards.
Onyeminam claimed that the distribution of the cards was tedious.
He appealed to Nigerians yet to receive theirs to be patient with NIMC.
The DG‎ blamed the slow distribution of the cards on the biometrics of registrants, which he explained could take a lot of time to process.
