President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday administered the oath of office on the new Head of Service (HoS) of the federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita.
Oyo-Ita’s inauguration took place just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President.
The inauguration makes Oyo-Ita the substantive head of the civil service of the federation, having stepped into the position in acting capacity in October 2015 when the former HoS, Mr Danladi Kifasi proceeded on terminal leave.
Special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, read Mrs Oyo-Ita’s citation after which she took her oath of office and oath of allegiance before the president and signed the oath register.
President Buhari then counter-signed the register and shook hands with Mrs Oyo-Ita. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari were also present. Speaking with newsmen at the end of the inauguration, Oyo-Ita promised to fight corruption in the federal civil service as well as promote capacity building for civil servants.
