Growing up i read about the life of Nelson Mandela of South Africa, anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician and philanthropist, who was the first black president of South Africa. He became the president between 1994-1999 and served for only one term.
Today, he is celebrated across the world as a hero and legend, yet i cannot over the past years relate his leadership style with many leaders in Nigeria because of their political mindset.
Looking as event unfold in Anambra politics due to the judgment day November 18, gubernatorial election i can only but see fear, lies, gullible, threat to life, intimidation in some candidate. Why many have published their CV (Curriculum vitae), achievements and manifesto to the general public for assessment, some are still looking for their achievements notably the incumbent governor Dr. Willie Obiano
Nevertheless, Oseloka H. Obaze, PDP gubernatorial candidate at an interactive session on Monday, shared his vision statement to Anambra state with me and i almost never cry, but tears rolled down my cheeks for his reason for running against the incumbent. Ndi Anambra indeed our state is broken. His humility, vast experience, strength and resilience is second to none and he quickly reminded me of the book titled “Long walk to freedom” by Nelson Mandela. I see a replica of Mandela in Obaze.
Obaze promise to serve for only one term (Four years) and hand over to the south owing to the zoning formula in the state.
With only four years, Obaze will;
*Return hospitals back to functional capacity through partnership with the churches
*Upgrade primary healthcare facilities of the 177 communities
*Completion of all abandoned roads and other project since 2014, commencement of new ones and maintenance.
*Enhance state- powered public transportation in all senatorial zones.
*Completion of Umunya-Amensea express road.
*Return of all multinational agencies support to improve education and social amenities in Anambra state.
*Reinforce Kidnap law
*Support static, mobile and community policing
*Reform/standardize AVG
*Federal presence support and collaboration with FEDs
*Return Anambra back to the top in waec/Neck
*Inclusive, equity-base and qualitative education.
*Devote 26% of budget to education with 10% to support parochial schools.
Zero hunger/ food security via mechanized farming.
Subsistence farmers support group (SFSG)
*Tools and equipment rental.
Beyond a doubt, Obaze is the governor in-waiting and will perform wonders for just one term.
