Morocco has reportedly submitted a request to join BRICS, the economic alliance. Indeed, a new report suggests that the country has officially entered the fray for potential expansion candidates.

The summit is likely to see the bloc set forth expansionary guidelines for incoming nations. Moreover, with more than 60 heads of state invited, it should feature a lot of countries hopeful to join. The past few months have seen notable growth for the BRICS economic alliance. It has embraced de-dollarization and sought to bring a renewed voice to the global south. Moreover, amid that growth, a host of countries have sought to become a part of the ever-growing economic collective.

Now, another country has reportedly sought to join its ranks. Specifically, with the BRICS summit less than a week away, Morocco has reportedly submitted a request to join. The country is yet another of a host of nations that are also seeking to be part of the growing bloc.

Expansion seems to be a matter of when, not if, for the BRICS collective. Subsequently, the heads of the bloc are reportedly set to discuss and solidify expansionary guidelines at the upcoming summit. Yet, although criteria are likely to be established, there are not likely to be countries that are approved or denied at the August gathering.

Morocco has long been on the list of nations seeking to join Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. However, it will face considerations similar to countries like Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Egypt. All in all, the economic alliance is certainly set to experience a strengthening of its global stature as an outcome of the event.
