A few days ago, pop star Wizkid was accused by @mrtawati on Twitter for pulling out on a concert at American University of Nigeria scheduled in November after he was paid.
The story went round blogs the following day, and Wizkid has to address the issue on Twitter. He called the story false, and hit back at bloggers for not confirming the story.
Now AUN has released a statement denying that Wizkid had been paid for the show. According to the statement Wizkid could not make the earlier date because of a scheduling concert, and now both parties are in talks over a new date.

“We would like to clear the air on the issue about Wizkid performing at AUN. We have been in negotiations with his management about him performing at our annual Homecoming concert. However due to a scheduling conflict he will not be able to make it at that time. We want to make it clear that contrary to what has been going round on the Internet this event has not happened yet, neither have we paid any money to Wizkid or his representatives. Any information saying he reneged on our agreement is wrong as we are still in the process of selecting an alternative date.
“Many students were disappointed he could not make Homecoming and one person in expressing their disappointment made statements, which were picked up by social media sites, that are inaccurate and do not reflect our position on this issue. AUN does not have any quarrel with Wiz Kid and we look forward to welcoming him on our campus at a future date.
